Our Story Begins
In 2008, in the heart of Venice, Florida, L&J Nursery took root with a simple vision: to grow beautiful plants and share the joy of nature with others. What began as a small family project has blossomed into a thriving, multi-location nursery that serves both local customers and plant lovers nationwide. From the very beginning, our mission has been grounded in passion, authenticity, and community. Plants aren’t just products to us—they are living works of art, teaching patience, resilience, and the beauty of growth.
Today, L&J Nursery proudly operates in two locations—Venice, Florida, and Orlando, Florida—allowing us to reach a wide audience of customers, collectors, and plant enthusiasts. Over the years, we’ve expanded not only in size but in heart, offering far more than just plants. Through our innovative events, workshops, and online presence, we’ve built a brand that people trust, enjoy, and return to time and time again.
This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.
The Birth of Bonsai & Cheers
Perhaps the most unique and beloved branch of our story is the creation of Bonsai & Cheers our signature event series that brings together bonsai artistry and social connection. Born out of a love for both plants and people, Bonsai & Cheers transforms the traditional idea of a plant class into an interactive, joyful, and memorable experience.
In these events, held at local breweries, distilleries, and community spaces, participants get the chance to design, shape, and pot their own bonsai trees while enjoying a relaxed and social atmosphere. Imagine a room full of friends—some new, some old—sharing a drink, laughing together, and each walking away with a living piece of art that they created themselves. That is the magic of Bonsai & Cheers.
What sets us apart is our philosophy: plant care and plant culture should be accessible, fun, and rewarding. Bonsai can sometimes feel intimidating, reserved for experts or collectors, but we break down those barriers. With patient guidance, high-quality materials, and a spirit of encouragement, we’ve helped thousands of people discover that bonsai isn’t just a plant it’s a lifestyle.
Rooted in Florida
Florida is not just our home base—it’s the very soil in which our story is planted. Our Venice location, established in 2008, serves as the foundation of our nursery operations. It is here that we honed our growing practices, nurtured rare varieties, and cultivated relationships with customers who have been with us since the very beginning. Venice gave us our roots, our resilience, and our reputation for quality.
In 2020, we expanded into Orlando, creating a second hub of growth and community connection. Orlando, with its vibrant energy and central location, gave us the chance to bring Bonsai & Cheers to a wider audience and to become a part of an incredibly diverse and creative city. Between the two locations, we are able to share plants with customers across Florida and beyond, while also serving as a local gathering place for plant enthusiasts.
What We Grow
While bonsai will always be our crown jewel, L&J Nursery offers an incredible variety of plants for homes, gardens, and landscapes. Our collections include:
Classic Bonsai Trees: Juniper, Ficus, Fukien Tea, Chinese Elm, Jade, Barbados Cherry, and more. Each tree is carefully grown, pruned, and trained to inspire creativity and encourage mindfulness.

- Specialty Plants: Carnivorous varieties like Pitcher Plants, colorful bromeliads, and other unique species that make collectors’ eyes light up.

Innovation and Growth
Over the years, we’ve embraced innovation as a way to grow our business while staying true to our values. We were among the first in our region to bring bonsai into the brewery scene, merging two worlds—plants and craft beverages—that seemed unrelated at first glance but turned out to be a perfect match.
We’ve also leaned into the digital world, expanding our presence on platforms like Etsy, Amazon, Shopify, TikTok Shop, and Instagram. By combining traditional growing methods with modern marketing and e-commerce tools, we’ve been able to reach plant lovers not only across the U.S. but around the globe.
We’ve invested in high-quality packaging to ensure safe plant shipping, developed detailed plant care guides for our customers, and even created unique add-on products like humidity trays and bonsai toolkits. Every step forward has been guided by the question: How can we bring more value, more joy, and more growth to our customers?

Owner of L&J Nursery, home of Bonsai & Cheers with locations in Orlando and Venice, Florida. Established in 2008, L&J Nursery reflects his passion for plants, community, and creativity. Jonathan also enjoys soccer, cultivating bonsai trees, and his favorite role of being a dedicated dad.
